KATABA - FUNERAL URN
Kataba means “ it is written” in arabic and since we have been honoring beauty in all its form through the life, why shall we dismiss this mission afterwards? Objects are intended to provide us with comfort, communicate our status and celebrate our uniqueness and no other moment could be crucial than the final one, where we leave to the memory and objects the role of being daily reminder of the history we represented. Kataba is the first bespoke cinereal urn ever created and it is to symbolize the harmony and the role each and every elements play when we are leaving this life being. On a Doric column covered in artic lichens, we have placed a round segment in blue agate aimed at representing the endless portions of sky and sea we have been populating while alive; at the center of the platform a golden square pedestal is set to welcome the urn, square to recall the four cardinal points where we have gravitated incessantly. The urn is made in gold and it can bring inscriptions like the names of the loved ones, the places that the person liked most. This all structure is surmounted by an arch, sign of endless connection between the material and spiritual life: like a never-ending play of light and darkness, spirit and matter, present and eternity. The loss , the absence, the grief are annihilated by the harmony, the beauty, by the unfathomable necessity of the passing time. This is a memento for being the best in the actual present moment in order to lead a greater life wherever we will be destined to.
